The Steiner Predator binoculars are one brand designed for gaming. They come with high contrast lenses that have a green tint that is designed to assist in making it easier to spot game. They also are usually fog proof and water resistant making them perfect for those fall morning hunts or wild life watching.

There are several models offering between 8x and 10x magnification with a field of view of between 289 and 390 feet at 1000 yards. The models also range from 26 mm lens to 30 mm lens and some models offer relative brightness of 14.06. Steiner has produced binoculars for over 50 years and is one of the industry leaders.

Depending on the model you will also be able to get a 20mm eye relief and rubber eyecups for extended use. For those that hunt or spend a great deal of time waiting for wildlife or who are interested in bird watching having a pair of binoculars that are going to be lightweight and comfortable in your hands for extended periods of time is a must. All of the Steiner predator binoculars are designed to provide you with exactly the magnification you need to spot the wildlife or the birds you are looking for.

Steiner predator binoculars are some of the best in the world as a result they are not the most inexpensively priced but they do offer a high level of quality and a wide range of features for the price tag. Other models such as the 10×50 and 12×50 are also available from the Steiner predator binoculars line. They provide compact portability with the power of larger, bulkier and heavier models.

Auto focus binoculars are just as they sound binoculars that automatically focus for you so you do not have to worry about focusing the binoculars yourself. This can be quite helpful in a number of situations especially if you are bird watching or are watching a moving object. Auto focus binoculars are not going to be as cheap as some since these types of features are usually found on more expensive models.

It is important to remember with these that the auto focus only works on a certain range of magnification. Objects that are closer than that usually require manual focus. Most of the Auto focus binoculars are going to be only up to a 10x magnification, which gives it a field range of approximately 1000 yards.

For the basic uses such as sports and birding or nature watching this is more than adequate in most respects. The binoculars are usually mid range in quality so depending on the model they may have coated lens, lanyards and even rubber or other coatings to make them easy to hold. When choosing one it is best to try the various models and brands out if possible.

This will help to ensure that you find a pair of auto focus binoculars that are going to not only be functional but be comfortable as well. They should be durable, lightweight enough to be comfortably held without being lightweight enough to increase the possibility of breakage. There are a number of different companies that produce these types of binoculars so you have the option of choosing something from your favorite maker such as canon and Nikon.

If you spend a lot of time on the water you should check out the Fujinon 7X50 Marine Binoculars. Fujinons Mariner XL series have been a standard for the pilots of many professional sea going ships.

These binoculars are waterproofed to actually take a dunking. They also come with a compass, range finding recticle and a nightlight built into the compass for viewing at night. This combination is designed to allow you to determine distance and bearing while boating.

While having a compass on your binoculars sounds great I would check them out very closely before depending upon them, just in case. A few degrees off out at sea can make a big difference, be safe and test them first.

Full size 7X50 Marine binoculars

Floatation neck strap

Waterproofed and Fog proofed

Multicoated lenses

Rubberized armor coating

LED nightlight in compass

These are great all weather binoculars at a very reasonable price. The fujinon 7X50 Marine Binoculars will not only fill the bill while boating but would perform just fine for hunting or birding as well.

Choosing the best birding binoculars is a challenge for both the casual backyard birdwatcher or the hardcore birder alike. It’s important to have a pair of quality sporting optics that are up to the conditions you will find your self in.

Some points you will want to take into account are magnification, lens size or brightness, focus type, weather proofing, lens coatings, armor coating, ease of use and price range. After considering all of these you should be able to pick up a pair of birding binoculars that will do just what you need.

Magnification- The first number in the binocular equation 8X30 is the magnification number. The object viewed is 8 times closer than with the unassisted eye. For Birding many prefer this number to be up to about 8, after that blurriness becomes an issue unless the binoculars are mounted or they are stabilized image binoculars.

Lens Size- The Second number in 8X30 is the size in millimeters of the outer lens. The bigger the lens the more light that can enter from the outside lenses. Those two factors determine for a large part the brightness of the binoculars.

Focus Type- You can get the auto-focus type or the smooth rolling focus wheel.

Weather Proofing- You will most likely need your binoculars well weather proofed. Waterproofed with tight fitting o-rings to keep out dust and moisture as well as fog and damp proofed with gas to keep those inner lenses free of condensation.

Lens Coatings- Lens coatings on both the outer lenses and inner eyepiece lenses are essential. These special coatings allow for improved clarity and color definition.

Armoring- Being in wet or muddy conditions will make handling your binoculars slippery. A good rubberized armor coating on the body will go a long way to eliminating that problem.

Ease of use- Are the binoculars easy to work with? Do they focus easily? Easy to mount on tri-pod? Are they compact enough for your situation or is that just not a factor?

Price Range-

400-1000+ Top of the line picks are Nikon “Venturer”, Zeiss “Nightowls, or Sawrovski Full Size.

200-400 Mid range choices are Fujinon,Bushnell, Eagle Optics “Rangers” and Celestron “Regals”

200 range Budget binoculars of note are made by Nikon, Eagle optics, Celestron and Bushnell

Unless you are a birding fanatic or loaded you will probably be shopping in the budget or mid range. If you cover all of these points you should be able to get the best birding binoculars that you can afford. Try to sample as many pairs of binoculars in your price range in person as possible. This will make your online purchase that much easier. Good luck and enjoy your birding.

The Bushnell ImageView 10X25 Digital Binocular Camera is handy little unit.
Image quality is clear and crisp at the fixed 10x zoom level. With its small 25.mm
lenses you will be somewhat short on light gathering and will need good lighting
for clear images and pics.

A rubberized coating on the sides makes for easy non slip handling. These binoculars are
very compact and make their use and transport a breeze. The eyecups also fold down to make viewing easier for users that wear glasses.

The built in low rez camera will only snap pics at a 640×480 resolution. This works
fine for email pics but not all that great for print pictures. Though somewhat limited
this binocular camera does provide value in compactness, ease of use and price.

The Good:

Very compact

Easy to operate

Can store up to 150 pics in memory

Handles well

Eye cups flip up

Not so good:

Images not print quality, good for email

No image preview

Small lens means you need good light to get clear image

Beeps when turn of or snaps pics, not always convenient

The Bushnell Binocular Camera, ImageView 10X25, is a decent entry level model.
It is more suited for taking visual notes than making fine prints. With that in mind
this unit may do well at sporting events, parades, school functions, outings, site
seeing and casual bird watching. The price and ease of use make this a reasonable option for a first binocular camera.

Opera binoculars or opera glasses as referred to by most people are a stylish and useful item for all opera fans. Whether to buy opera glasses vintage style or new out of the box will depend largely on your personal taste and the functionality you desire.

The antiques have a charm and elegance that is very hard to reproduce with modern technology. Yet these stylish glasses are aged and repairs or replacement parts could be difficult to come by. With the modern new out of the box models you can get very nice looking glasses and some type of guarantee.

The optics and lens quality of the antiques will vary so you will need to know something about the particular brand and model you are purchasing. If buying online be sure to ask specific questions about the condition of the glasses and the amount of scratches on the lenses.

When you buy new check to see if there is a coating to reduce scratching. If you have your heart set on those gorgeous antiques, get them and consider a brand new pair as backups. You can buy opera glasses vintage style or brand new safely if you take the time to question the seller about their condition and guarantees if they apply.

Looking for wide-field power at a value price? The 10X42 Vortex Diamondback binoculars may be just be one of the best deals online.

These binoculars will provide one of the largest fields of views in its class.
The optics quality rival Nikon Monarchs though not quite up to the standards of Zeiss,
Leica or Swarovski. Even if they are not in that league, Diamondbacks are still a
fantastic value just as they are.

With the superior optics that vortex is known for, you get a pair of very good
lowlight binoculars. This makes it very easy to spot game early and late in
the day, as well as through out the day. There is a slight amount fuzziness
along the outer edge of the view but the lack of eyestrain more than make up for that.

These binoculars are an excellent example of superior sports optics and have:

Multi-coated lenses for higher quality images

Fog proofing keeps internal lenses clear

O-ring seal waterproofing that locks out wind and rain

Tapered eyecups

Rubber armoring that is durable and well shaped for ease of handling

Eye cups and focus wheel both twist and work smoothly

These binoculars also include a guarantee when purchased new

The Vortex Diamondback Binoculars are a definite top pick for their class. So until
you are ready to move up to Zeiss, Swarovski or Leica, give the Diamondbacks a look.

When buying binoculars for astronomy there are several things that need to be considered.

Will they be used along with a telescope or in place of one? Many people prefer
a quality pair of binoculars over a telescope. The binoculars are easier to transport,
easier to scan the skies with and much less awkward to use.

If you do choose binoculars to do your star gazing be sure to keep a few of these points in mind.

Although there are many models to choose from in the 7x to 12x these will not give near
the results that the 25X to 40X models will. The problem with the high magnification models
is blurriness due to hand tremors.

A good mount or tripod will go a long ways to eliminating the problem of blurring. Some
star gazers even go so far as to build custom mounts affixed to a chair or seat.
That way they can move easily about and the binoculars will remain fixed in place.

Try and get binoculars that have coated eyepieces and lenses. If buying used check for scratches
and white spots.

Be sure to get a pair with a center focusing wheel. This allows you to slowly dial in the
objects you are viewing which will not be the case with an auto focus pair.

Try to test the binoculars you want in person. Even if you plan on buying online it pays to
stop by the local sporting goods store. Then you can examine you prospects first hand.

How do they feel?
Are they awkward to handle?
Do they focus smoothly?
Do they have lens coatings?
Will mounting be a problem?

You can also quiz the sale person when buying binoculars for astronomy at the store,
then purchase online when an excellent deal is available. Be sure to quiz the online seller as well.
